Salesforce: How to remove the edit/delete action links in a list view

Samuel Oberes

Lately I encountered a need to remove the edit and delete action links in a list view because we neither want users being redirected to other pages upon clicking those, nor want the users to be able to edit/delete the shown records.

As a quick and dirty approach, without even thinking about profiles and security, what I did was hide the action links through CSS. This is how I implemented it:

<style>
  [Class*='ACTION_COLUMN'] {
    display:none;
    visibility:hidden;
  }
</style>

I used the contains selector instead of the ends-with selector because at times, the word ACTION_COLUMN is being succeeded by a space. With the contains selector, I can get all classes with a name that matches the word, regardless of spaces on both sides.
